Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is happy in Gamebred FC. The Brazilian has been out of the cage since a one-off bout in Eagle FC last May. There, Junior dos Santos suffered his fifth loss in a row to Yorgan de Castro. However, it was a medical stoppage, as the former champion had dislocated his shoulder in the final seconds of the third round.

Junior dos Santos and Fabricio Werdum will fight again. Dos Santos and Werdum fought back at UFC 90 in 2008 with ‘JDS’ winning by TKO in just 80 seconds. Since then, both went on to become UFC heavyweight champion for a period, but neither man is still fighting with the promotion.

Junior dos Santos believes Ciryl Gane has some dirty tricks up his sleeve. Gane took center stage inside Accor Arena in Paris, France on September 3. He shared the Octagon with Tai Tuivasa. While Tuivasa showed heart, he ultimately crumbled after being on a receiving end of a barrage of heavy strikes from Gane in the third round. “Bam Bam” dropped to the mat from an uppercut and Gane sealed the deal with a couple of hammerfists.

Junior dos Santos believes Conor McGregor ducked Charles Oliveira. Before Oliveira fought Justin Gaethje he made it clear he wanted to face McGregor, but it never came to fruition. After he submitted ‘The Highlight,’ Oliveira once again called out the Irishman but the fight was never put together.

Last weekend at Eagle FC 47, Junior dos Santos went toe to toe with Yorgan De Castro in what proved to be a really fun main event down in Miami. Both heavyweights were slugging it out for the first two rounds and enjoyed similar levels of success, with many believing dos Santos looked the best he has done in years.

Tonight’s Eagle FC 47 event was headlined by a heavyweight contest featuring Junior dos Santos taking on Yorgan de Castro. Junior dos Santos (21-10 MMA) was returning to action for the first time since December of 2020, where he suffered a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane. That setback marked the former UFC heavyweight champions fourth in a row and resulted in his release from the promotion. ‘JDS’ initially signed on to fight for Triller, but ultimately wound up returning with Eagle FC.

Eagle FC returns to Miami, Florida for Eagle FC 47 on Friday night. The fight card features a ton of UFC veterans as the main event sees Junior dos Santos taking on Yorgan De Castro. The card also sees the likes of Andrew Sanchez, and Hector Lombard among others competing. Junior dos Santos (21-9) has not fought since December of 2020 when he suffered a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane which marked his fourth in a row. After the loss, he was released from the UFC and initially inked a deal with Triller but a fight never came to fruition, and ended up signing with Eagle FC. On the losing skid, he suffered TKO losses to Jairiznho Rozenstruik, Curtis Blaydes, and Francis Ngannou. His last win came in March of 2019 as he TKO’d Derrick Lewis. The former UFC heavyweight champion also holds notable wins over Tai Tuivasa, Stipe Miocic, Cain Velasquez, and Frank Mir.

Junior Dos Santos has opened up about the ‘absurd mistakes’ he made in his UFC fights with Cain Velasquez. Dos Santos (21-9 MMA) and Velasquez (14-3 MMA) fought a total of three times in the Octagon. The two heavyweights met at UFC Fox 1 in 2011, UFC 155 in 2012, and at UFC 166 in October 2013. While Dos Santos won their first battle, he succumbed to defeat against Cain the next two times out.

Khabib Nurmagomedov would like to work with Bellator to book Fedor Emelianenko’s final fight. The head of Eagle FC would like to send Junior dos Santos in for the job. ‘Cigano’ is set to face fellow UFC veteran Yorgan De Castro this Friday at Eagle FC 47. The bout is slated as a title eliminator bout. The winner of the fight was expected to face Eagle FC heavyweight champion Rizvan Kuniev, well before today.

Junior dos Santos has signed with Eagle FC. On Wednesday, Khabib Nurmagomedov went on ESPN and announced he has signed Dos Santos to his promotion. The former UFC heavyweight champion will headline an Eagle FC card on May 20 against UFC veteran, Yorgan Se Castro. The co-main event of the card will also see a battle of ex-UFC fighters as Hector Lombard will take on Thiago Silva. The event is expected to take place at FLXcast Arena in Miami.

Dos Santos (21-9 MMA) was cut by the Ultimate Fighting Championship shortly following his TKO loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC 256. That setback had marked the Brazilians fourth in a row, with all four losses coming by way of technical knockout.

Former UFC heavyweight Junior dos Santos revealed how the UFC was “really unprofessional” during his final two fights with the promotion. Dos Santos is the former UFC heavyweight champion and one of the greatest fighters to ever compete at that weight class in the UFC. However, following four straight losses in the Octagon, including a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC 256, the promotion decided to let him go. Considering dos Santos was a former champion and is universally regarded as one of the best people in the business, it was surprising to see the UFC let him go when he made it clear that he wanted to stick around longer. Since being cut by the UFC, dos Santos has joined AEW Wrestling and he is happy there, but he still has qualms with the UFC.

Heavyweight Junior dos Santos is disappointed by the Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Johnson fight booking, saying that “I don’t understand why.” Emelianenko is set to return to the Bellator cage this October in Moscow, Russia, and when the news first broke that “The Last Emperor” was going to fight again, immediately big names like dos Santos, Fabricio Werdum, Alistair Overeem, Josh Barnett, and even Jake Hager all threw their names in the hat to get the chance to face off with the legend. However, Bellator decided to choose Johnson instead, and that disappointed dos Santos.
